Pacemaker Editor is free software designed for organizing, mixing and remixing music files for the purposes of saving and sharing them with others.

Pros of Pacemaker Editor

  • Genuine freeware - Pacemaker Editor is a free download, and involves no trial period or cost for full use of features. It doesn't include spyware or adware, and advertisements don't play on-screen during use.
  • Variety of options - For a small program, Pacemaker Editor packs a punch when it comes to creative choices. Users can create mixes of existing song files or edit and alter song files themselves, adding effects like fade-in and fade-out, loops, reverb and more.
  • Easy-to-use controls - The software interface is straightforward and easy to understand. Actions are performed largely via the use of "drag and drop" controls. Existing music files can be imported into the software with a single click, whether as individual files or as full libraries.
  • Share and rate mixes with the community - Once you've created and edited your personal mix, you can upload it to the Pacemaker Editor website community. Users of the community can share mixes with one another and vote on the best ones.
  • Automatic analysis of tracks - Once songs are imported into the program, they're automatically analyzed and tracked via a waveform diagram, giving you a good visual tool that assists greatly in the editing and mixing process.

Cons of Pacemaker Editor

  • Sharing songs with community requires sign-up - It's a small detail, and to be expected, but in order to share your mixes with the Pacemaker Editor community (and to experience others' mixes yourself), you must sign up as a community member. Doing so is free, but requires registration of your email address.
  • Small amount of users compared to other programs - The Pacemaker community itself is, at the current time, somewhat limited. As the program becomes more popular and gains followers, this could very well change, but as of now there is a relatively small amount of users online to share and rate tracks.
  • Limited capabilities for users accustomed to multi-track editing - Pacemaker Editor is a highly performing editing tool, but it does operate on a single-track basis. In other words, users who have done music editing and mixing before using multi-track editors may find the capabilities of Pacemaker a bit too simple for their requirements and tastes.
  • Some limitations on file-type compatibility - Pacemaker Editor supports music file formats MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV and OGG. While this covers the most-popular types of audio tracks out there, it does leave out a few, so users should either ensure their tracks meet the program's compatibility limitations or be prepared to convert their tracks to compatible formats before planning on using the software.
